Business Start-Up Center Kragujevac participated last week at University based pre-incubation workshop, at Birzeit University, in Ramallah, Palestine. The workshop was organized on November 10th 2010.
The aim of the workshop was to spotlight success stories and challenges in creating the models for support and stimulation of entrepreneurship and innovation among youth.

The event presented the underlying principles by which university-based business pre-incubators operate – with the Business Start-Up Center at Birzeit University as a case study, and Business Start-Up Center Kragujevac, as best practice example.
Business Start-Up Center Kragujevac was represented by Director, Nebojsa Simic and Deputy Director, Marija Stojadinovic, who was one of workshop speakers. She introduced Business Start-Up Center Kragujevac project, as one of successful pre-incubation models. Beside Marija Stojadinovic, speakers from Serbia were dr Vladimir Senic, lecturer from Faculty of Economy, University of Kragujevac, and Vladimir Marinkovic, entrepreneur from Kragujevac, BSC Kragujevac trainer and consultant.
Dr Vladimir Senic was speaking about pre-incubation best practice experiences in Western Europe and USA, while Mr Vladimir Marinkovic was talking about obstacles and challenges young entrepreneurs are facing in running the business.
Mr Ibrahim Abukteish introduced model of pre-incubation developed and Birzeit University.

Representatives of Birzeit University also presented their latest project – online learning system – which is designed for students and youth interested in entrepreneurship and business skills development. The content is in Arab language and collects all relevant information and knowledge related to entrepreneurship and business skills.

In general, this workshop gave opportunity to experts dealing with local economic development and entrepreneurship support, to exchange ideas and experiences in implementation of different pre-incubation models and best practice experiences.

Within the Result 5 of the Project, study visit for BSC management and partners was organized to the relevant EU institutions in Brussels and Paris to discuss policy influencing activities of BSC, promotion of Regional Automotive Cluster Kragujevac and searching for potential investors, business partners for local automotive suppliers towards higher involvement of local automotive companies into EU business integration.

The trip was realized in the period 16 – 20 September, 2010.

Their host in Brussels was Ms Gordana Zrnic, Director of the Representative office of Serbian Chamber of Commerce in Brussels

The group visitied the following institutions and had successful meetings:
UEAPME – European Association of Craft, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, Brussels, who is the social partner to EU Commission and participates in the sessions of the Board of Ministers;
at EESC – European Economic and Social Committee, Brussels  – consultative body of the European Union for introduction of new policies, they had meeting with Mr Henri Malosse, president of the Group of the Employers EESC and Ms Madi Sharma, member of the Committee. The meeting at Eurochambers, Brussels was related to the recently completed project “Establishment of Excellence Center in Automotive sector”, funded by Eurochambers.

Meeting with Ms Borka Tomic, City of Kragujevac official lobbyist in Brussels  was held during the study trip. Kragujevac is the first Serbian city to have its permanent lobbyist in Brussels.

In Paris they had meetings with:

FIEV – The French Automotive  Industries Association that gathers together some 120 groups of companies in Eu; Ms Ivana Stankovic, Economic Advisor in the Embassy of Serbia in France.

Reception at the residence of Serbian Ambassador in France, Mr Dusan Batakovic was long and related to economic development of Serbia and potentials for EU integration of Serbia. The Embassy is providing full support to all economic development initiatives and provides contacts with EU partners.
OECD – Investment Compact for South East Europe where their management underlined regional approach of  EU to all activities and suggested to make all our plans and activities regional. They said that automotive sector will be the locomotive of development of Serbia in the next 10 years, and Kragujevac is the natural center of automotive industry not only for Serbia, but for the whole Balkans.  During that day members of the group visited OECD – Division of SMEs & Entrepreneurship – Centre for Entrepreneurship, SMEs and Local Development.

Visit of the  City of Suresnes, brother-city of Kragujevac was also on the scedule.  Suresnes is among the most developed areas in France, and brother-town to Kragujevac for years. They had meeting with Mr Testud, Deputy Mayor of Suresnes and Ms Valerie Gaude da Silva, Head of Department for Local Economic Development. They are informed about various forms of encouragement and support Municipality offer to start-ups. Since 2003 Municipality opened big incubator, more then 1,000 enterprises benefited some type of support and almost 300 new companies were created which members of study trip visited. At the moment in the Incubator, which is among 150 Incubators in France, typical one, are 94 tenants with 150 employees. It is very good example of effective utilization of private-public partnership in managing public interest. They are very open for cooperation with incubators in Serbia and Business Innovation Center.

Significant amount of information and impressions were collected during the trip, what generated new ideas and thoughts about future activities of BSC .

21 September at the premises of the Regional Chamber of Commerce Kragujevac, BSC and YES foundation was held presentation of the brochure “Responsible youth entrepreneurship – creating an anti-corruption culture in the private sector, where they worked together, BSC Kragujevac, YES Foundation of Macedonia, the Initiative from Serbia, the Independent Bureau for Development of Bosnia and Hercegovina, a consulting firm and reliable support “Inceptum” from Slovenia.

The brochure aims is to raise awareness on issues of corruption among the youth, to present the consequences of corruption in business, but also to show what an individual can do to ensure that the entrepreneurial function without corruption.

2010 years ago by the United Nations declared the International Year of Youth. In the purpose of the declaration of the International Year of Youth, which runs from 12 August 2010 to 12 August 2011 is to encourage all sectors of society to collaborate with youth and youth organizations.

In Belgrade, 13 August, at Ada Ciganlija – was fair idea of youth.
Business Start-up center with Spark was present at the event. Getting to know young people, creative and interesting is always good. So this time we have spent a great, have fun and share our experiences and ideas. At the end of the day had been declared the best ideas, and will later be documented and processed, to make them available to a wider layer of young people.

Faculty of Mechanical Engineering organized 8th Quality Festival, last week, from May 19th till May 21st. This manifestation is as always international and gives possibility to researchers and experts from all over the world to meet each other every year and discuss quality issues in different sectors of industry and economy.  As a part of the Festival, two conference were organized – Quality Conference, on May 20th, and Life Quality Conference, on Friday 21st. During three days of manifestations more then 100 papers were presented by their authors, from all over the world. BSC was invited to give presentation about CISCO Local institute for entrepreneurship and online learning. Sandra Jakovljevic, BSC consultant and Program Manager of CISCO Local Institute, gave her presentation, on Saturday 22nd, at Faculty of mechanical Engineering. Attendees of presentation were students, 100 of them, from Kragujevac and Belgrade University, who positively evaluated this workshop and expressed their interest to become a part of CISCO community in the future.

Last week, from May 19th till Mat 21st, Kragujevac was the host of first International Fair of Car components producers. Leading organization of the whole manifestation was Regional Chamber of Commerce, while there were many sponsors, such as: City of Kragujevac, Agency for foreign investments and export promotion, Serbian Chamber of Commerce, Project for competitiveness development and export promotion – SECEP. This manifestation was also official central event of European SME week in Serbia.
Around  100 companies presented their products and services during fair. Beside stands, fair visitor had chance to participate at different workshops, round tables and presentations all three days. First day of fair was specially interesting for all component producers who had chance to meet great buyers, such as: Citroen, Peugeot, General Motors.

On Wednesday, 19 May, 2010, in Kragujevac opened the first international fair of manufacturers of auto components Southeast Europe – SEE Auto Compo Net 2010, organized Regional Serbian Chamber of Commerce and Sumadija Fair. The fair was officially opened by Ivica Dacic, First Deputy Prime Minister R. Serbia.
Patrons of the Fair are: Chamber of Commerce of Serbia, Serbian Investment and Export Promotion Agency – Opportunities, City of Kragujevac and Competitiveness Project and Export Promotion Agency – SECEP.

BSC Kragujevac and Regional Agency for Economic and Spatial Development of Raski and Moravicki District organized certificate ceremony in Raska, on May 13th 2010.
Ceremony was held in Municipality of Raska. 19 participants who successfully completed one or more of our trainings, were awarded with certificates. Ceremonial spechees were given by: Chief of Office for Local Economic Development of Raska Municipality,  Deputy Director of Regional Agency Kraljevo and representative of Business Start-Up Center Kragujevac. Raska municipal representatives underlined relevance and benefits from the trainings and expressed willingness for further collaboration and new trainings in near future.

Business Start Up Center is Kragujevac 17.12.2009 held a presentation of research results on the problems of the local labor market. On the presentation said,

The aim of the presentation was to the wider professional and social public present research results and recommendations. The study was commissioned by the Business Start up Center Kragujevac within its regular project activities in 2009 in order to improve local conditions and creating conditions to encourage local economic development. Performed research was Secons organizations from Belgrade. The aim of the study and the study was to identify the current situation and condition of the labor market in Kragujevac and its surroundings, its weaknesses and potentials, and the educational system and the needs of employers, in terms of professional profiles, knowledge and skills necessary for their successful business. 16.12.2009, Business start up centre have honour to awarding winners of the best business plans in 2009. The competition this year was the most serious so far, had to choose among the best of the best. Jury was a serious and difficult task, and our final list, you can read in this document. BSC expansion project at the center of Palestine, during the past week, we had the honor to our city teaching some trainers from Palestine. We organized pritrening which should enable them to be high quality and better prepare for the start of the project in Palestine. Fraction of the atmosphere, you can see here. In the period from 26 to 28 November at the Belgrade Fair, held fair business base. Business base is place where people / young entrepreneurs, as well as presentation of the potential of small and medium-sized enterprises in the country, meet each other. This year as in previous BSC Kragujevac, together with its partners on the project as well as some of the winners of the best business plans to appear on this fair. It was interesting to participate and one of our winners the best business plans Blazic Dragan received the second prize for the best product for the fair in which we are especially proud.

Cisco Local Institute for Entrepreneurship has completed his first training iExec. This was the introductory training, which is the first in a series of our town and we expect soon to new students and further develop our local institute. On friday 20.11.2009 in Kragujevac the Fair of Youth and Student Entrepreneurial was held, organized by the Business Innovation programs. Business Start-up centre was one of participants of this fair. The main goal of Fair was promotion of Youth and Student enterpreneurship and raising awareness  of enterpreneurship.

On 20.11.2009 Business Start up Center in the premises of Business innovation center in Kragujevac, organized a  presentation of the book Economic diplomacy.

This presentationat the same time was the introduction of a three-day training of economic diplomacy. Training of economic diplomacy will be held in the period of 23-25.11.2009 in the premises of Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Kragujevac.

SPARK, InHolland University of Applied Sciences and Triodos & Facet organized this international Conference, which took place in Rotterdam, from October 29th till October 30th 2009. People from all over the world participated at the Conference – more than 20 nations across the Europe, Africa and the Middle East. First day of conference, participants had opportunity to listen to international experts in the field of entrepreneurship. After presentations, participants were involved in several different interactive workshops. Second day of the Conference was dedicated to the visit of Creative Factory Incubator, which provides space for young entrepreneurs whose business is connected with design and similar creative industries. This visit attracted great attention of all participants. According to the Conference agenda, during 2nd day of work, participants were divided into 6 groups – each group had different topic to discuss and to come up with specific conclusions. BSC Kragujevac and SPARK organized study visit of University professors from Kragujevac, in Holland, from October 26th till October 28th 2009. Study tour was organized together for professors from Serbia and Macedonia. Prof. Donald Ropes from University InHolland, was our host. During the visit, professors had opportunity to participate at workshops dedicated to the concept of Community of Practice, as well as to visit InHolland University in Amsterdam, Pedagogical Institute in Hopfdorp, and Science Centre in Lieden. The traditional conference of e-business in Nis, Biz buzz 2009, is finished. The core maintence of conference was be: corporate presence on the Internet, Internet marketing – all the advantages that the use of the Internet makes business practice, corporate aspects of social media and usability and interface of web applications. Of course, BSC Kragujevac as organization pays great attention to social media this year for the first time appeared at the conference. About the conference can read more on our blog.

Between 6-11 october 2009 Business Start-up Centre Kragujevac, in corporation with other BSCs from Zenica, Bar and Bitola, participated in the 16th General ZEPS Fair in Zenica. Business start up Center Kragujevac was in the team: Nemanja Jovicic, Danijela Dimitrijevic,Vera Jovovic and the winners of the best business plans in 2009 Vitraz Tifani, Artika, Simod and Tecor. ZEPS is the International Fair, the general nature, which is structured according to thematic entities. On 29th September, is opened Infostud action “Month of knowledge in Kragujevac” . Business Start-up Center was one of the visitor’s at lectured “The 7 habits of effective people,” also had the honor to give more awards in the form of: books and the voucher for business skills training.

CISCO LOCAL INSTITUTE IN KRAGUJEVAC

The Western Balkans Automotive Industry Excellence Center, which was opened on September 15, 2009, in Kragujevac, represents the chance for over 200 companies to appear in the global automobile market and find strategic partners through regional network. In addition to the headquarters in the capital city of sumadija, there will also be corresponding centers in Zenica, Bar, Bitola and Tirane. The aim of the Center is to connect Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Macedonia, and Albania into a large business network, and to make the companies from these countries the partners of large companies, such as “Fiat” in Kragujevac and “Volkswagen” in Bosnia and Herzegovina – said DuSan PuaCa, the President of the Regional Chamber of Commerce Kragujevac, which has been working on this project over the last three years.

The project is backed by the World Bank, as well as by the Association of European Chambers of Commerce with headquarters in Brussels, German Chamber of Commerce from Leipzig, Dutch aid organization SPARK, and SIEPA.

Nebojsa Simic from Dutch organization SPARK expressed the hope that the Center in Kragujevac would achieve enviable success in field of automotive industry.
SPARK is present in this part of the world for years, and it has invested significant funds and efforts in supporting local businesses. This is a very important project for automotive industry, and we gladly accepted to participate in it. The key elements for competitiveness are know-how and modern technology, and I have no doubts that the Western Balkans Excellence Center in Kragujevac will be an equal participant in global competition in field of automotive industry – said Simic.

Business Start-up Center in cooperation with the Cisco training center in Novi Sad, opened the FIRST LOCAL CISCO ENTREPRENEUR INSTITUTE IN KRAGUJEVAC. Today is officially signed a cooperation agreement between the Business Start-up Centre and CISCO training centre from Novi Sad. It is another important step, which provides new trainings for the entrepreneurs, small and medium enterprises and employees in public sector. Once again, Business Start-up Centre continues quality step forward in providing new services. NEW CYCLE OF BUSINESS SKILL IN KRALJEVO AND CACAK

BSC Kragujevac continues cooperation with Regional Agency for Economic Development from Kraljevo. BOOK PROMOTIAL

On 10.06.2009 in the  Business Innovation Centre premises, presentation of the book “Think and rich” was organized by Business Start-up Centre. Natasa Draskovic, international consultant for the management and strategy who translated and published book in Serbia was talking about. During the promotion, she was moderating very inspiring panel discussion with participants about her long and successful experience from around the world in the field of management, strategy and innovation with participants. The part of atmosphere we are transmitting to you.

Business plan competition winners awarded

A ceremony on the occasion of the announcement of the winners for the best business plan competition for 2009 is being held 25.06.2009 at the Municipality of Kragujevac. To winners of best business plan was addressed: deputy mayor Nebojsa Zdravkovic, director of Business Start-up Center Nebojsa Simic and Mr. Zoran Kuzmanovic before the jury that evaluated the business plans. The ceremony was closed by exposure to one of the winners of business plans, Nikola Krivokuca. After the ceremony performed acts of ceremonies, and the delivery of prizes, was prepared the appropriate cocktail for all attendees. BUSINESS START-UP CENTRE IN THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE – The International Diaspora Youth Leadership Conference 2009

The International Diaspora Youth Leadership Conference 2009 brings together future leaders from 19 countries representing youth from five continents from universities, business, government, NGOs, education and the cultural sector for a unique two-day experience aimed at broadening their perspectives on study, work, leadership, and their origin countries. This is a first-of-a-kind idea that is aiming to foster greater awareness and understanding between Youth Serbians in Diaspora and Serbia.

Business start up centar will participate in the conference along with winners of best business plans for 2007-2008: Dragana Blazic – hand made soaps,Ilija Mutavdzic – production of spiceplants,  Branko Ratkovic – E-tradin Euromarket.

COMPLETED THE LONGEST BUSINESS SKILLS TRAINING CYCLE ORGANIZED BY BSC KRAGUJEVAC

The longest business skills training cycle organized by BSC ended on June 2009. It lasted 3 months, and 4 trainings weekly were being performed. The 85 modules were organized, in Kragujevac, Kraljevo, Raca, Lapovo, Batocina, Knic, Arandjelovac, Rekovac  and Topola.

We have implemented Training in Kraljevo in partnership with Regional Agency for Spatial and Economic Development of Raski and Moravicki district, while Regional Economic Development Agency for Sumadija and Pomoravlje have been our partner in the organization of trainings in the municipalities around  Kragujevac. 1191 participants attended trainings. Positive impressions of our customers were and still are coming to us. They say that the trainings were very useful to them to learn practical things, in relaxed and pleasant atmosphere, and what is the most important, it helps them to further professional development.

SME WEEK IN KRAGUJEVAC

First SME Week in Serbia is over! Kragujevac was the gathering center of entrepreneurs and experts in the field of SME sector, from Serbia and all over the world, from May 7th till May 9th 2009.  More than 200 guests visited International conference EU Accession – Possibilities for SME sector development in South East Europe.   Conference was officially opened by Dutch Deputy Ambassador, Tsjeard Hoekstra and Dejan Jovanovic, State Secretary for regional development, Goverment of Serbia.

Conference gathered international experts from all over the world who chared their experiences and best practice examples, trying to give answers on some important questions regarding SME development in the period of crisis and within the context of Serbian EU accession process. SME Fair gathered more than 60 businesses from tha Balkans – Serbia, Macedonia, Bosnia and Montenegro – start ups and existing ones. Some of them for the first time had the opportunity to present their products and services at some public manifestation. Photos of the fair are also available on the SME Week official web site.

Development of SME sector was also presented through unusual street performance , organized on May 7th, when many citizens came and participated in different street sme services, like hairdressing services, photography services and many others. Street performance was an unusual way to show developement of entrepreneurhip through time.

BUSINESS PLAN COMPETITIONS AND ASSISTANCE FOR ENTREPRENEURS

Business Plan Competition aims to support young people, from Serbia, interested in developing their business ideas into sustainable business. Business plans can be prepared for start up of new business or developing on going business.
Eligible to participate are all young people, age 18 to 40, from Sumadija district.

BUSINESS START UP IN CACAK
Business Start-up Centre in cooperation with the Cacak, and Regional agencies for economic and spatial development of the Raska and Moravickog district, started cooperation on the expansion of Business Start-up Center, in territory of Cacak.

Business skills training will start 15.06.2009 at the premises of the Agronomy Faculty of Cacak.

Customers will be able to join and contest for the best business plan, which is organizing in Kraljevo and in the course of the preparations for the provision of consulting services for users with the territory of Cacak.

PROMOTIONAL CAMPAIGN FOR EXPANDING THE BSC PROJECT ACTIVITIES THROUGHOUT CITY OD CACAK

Within promotional campaign for expansion Business Start-up Center project activities throughout city of Cacak , two public performances were held.
On Monday 1st June is at the Info Center for small and medium-sized enterprises in Cacak , representatives of partner organizations: director of BSC Kragujevac, Nebojsa Simic, Ms. Radojka Savic, director of the Regional Agency for Spatial and Economic Development of Raski and Moravicki District and Mr. Vladimir Gojgic representative of the City of Cacak presented the project and activities realization dynamics in Cacak.

Thursday 4th June is Nemanja Jovicic, Projec officer in the BSC Kragujevac and Radojka Savic, director of Regional Agency for Spatial and Economic Development of Raski and Moravicki districts with the same aim participated in TV show “Economic  barometer” on TV Cacak.
